Livelihood & Employability Enhancement

Economic development and livelihood are directly correlated terminologies. Education, health and all indicators related with the quality life are connected to the better options of livelihood. In India, due to concentration of wealth and high rate of unemployment, people from poor families are unable to access the facilities around and compelled to migrate long distance. RCFI is working for the livelihood enhancement through various activities across India. The organization has two types of interventions; group based and individual activities. Major intervention under livelihood programme are as follows.
  1. 5000 plus families with additional livelihood options.
  2. 19 training centers for rural youths, which has been run by the community or local educational institutions.

    Tailoring Centers & Individual Tailoring Units


    Tailoring skill can contribute as an additional income to the economically backward families. RCFI has constructed 10 training centers in deferent part of the country. Approximately, 150 women can get training at a time from the centers. Training mostly focuses on local traditional clothing and trending habits of the area, so that the trained candidates can earn easily from the local area. This programme intent to ensure the income support with empowering local women to enhance their employability. Individual tailoring unit was another initiative of the organization. The major benefit of this programme goes to the widows and female headed households. 81 such women received tailoring machine during the year. A total of 300 such centers are working now with the support of the RCFI.

      IT Centers


      IT skill is the most important skill of today’s life. RCFI has setup 9 computer com communication training centers. Each centers can training more than 15 students at a time. It focuses on software and hardware training along with the other soft skill workshops. In a year more than 700 students are getting training from the centers. Most of them are integrated with local schools and hostels, which also support the local school students to get appropriate trainings and lessons.

      Rural Shops


      RCFI has constructed 128 shopping centers in deferent part of the working states. It benefits more than 350 families every year. Most of the case the centers has been integrated with the cultural centers or education institutions, which help the local institution run smoothly with the financial help of the center. The beneficiaries of this programme selected by the local area people considering their financial situation. Shopping center can easily be their primary financial source.

      Animal Husbandry


      Animal husbandry is the second largest contributor after agriculture in the rural economy. RCFI is also looking at improving models in the AH sector. 265 families covered through Goat programme where all the individual households will get a number of goats from the organization.The organization provide local verities of the goat to reduce the chances of mortality. 54 families covered through milk animal programme. All the families covered under this programme are financially very poor. They have been provided improver breeds cows and buffaloes. Support to fisherman community Our country has huge sea resources and which provide a major livelihood option to the coastal people. As part of RCFI’s costal programme the organization support fisherman community through infrastructural support and training. 45 fishing boats has been distributed to 90 families. All of them were given high quality fishing boats.

      Other Interventions


      RCFI also work with individual attention where ever it is needed. There are several activities has been completed to uplift the financial conditions of the families. During last couple of years there are 3049 families benefited under this schemes. Most of them received self-employment tools like computers, cooking instruments, handicraft instruments, etc.
